IWSG May Blog Hop – On Distractions

May 1 question: How do you deal with distractions when you are writing? Do they derail you?

Oh, distractions. My biggest enemy.

As an individual with ADHD, but unable to get a diagnosis due to our messed up healthcare system here in the US, distractions are the bane of my existence. I’m very easily distracted, and forgetful.

So, yeah, a distraction can easily derail me from my writing. Add in chronic pain/fatigue, and it’s incredibly hard to keep a writing schedule consistently. And, as evidenced by my late posting of this blog, it’s difficult to remember to do things sometimes.

At some point, but not today as I’m obviously unprepared, I’m going to write an article about how to use ADHD as a writing superpower. You’d be surprised how easy it is.

Anyway, for now, I’m keeping this one short and simple. Distracted writers, you are not alone.
